Can’t reach whoever set up your StackDNS hosting? We can help.

If your domain uses StackDNS nameservers (ns1.stackdns.com to ns4.stackdns.com) or StackMail email, and you can’t get help from the person or company who set it up, we can look after your website, email and domain for you directly.

How it works

  1. Fill in the short form with your domain name and your details.
  2. Sign to give us permission to look after it for you.
  3. We look after it from then on. Your website stays live, and usually no DNS changes are needed.

Why we ask you to sign: we only act with the permission of the domain’s owner, or someone allowed to act for them. It keeps your website, email and domain safe.

Common situations we can help with

My web designer or hosting company has disappeared. What can I do?

You’re not alone, and it’s more common than you might think. Fill in the short form with your domain name and your details, then sign to give us permission. From then on we look after your website, email and domain for you, so you’re no longer relying on someone you can’t reach.

My domain is about to expire, or has already expired. Can you help?

Yes. Please fill in the form as soon as you can and tell us the expiry date if you know it. Once you’ve given permission, we’ll look into renewing it for you. If it has already expired, don’t panic: most domains can still be renewed for a while after they expire, so it’s worth getting in touch straight away.

My website shows “403” or “access forbidden”. What does that mean?

It often means the hosting behind your website has been paused or switched off, for example because a renewal wasn’t paid. In many cases your website is still there. Fill in the form and we’ll check what’s happened and help you get it back online.

I can’t log into my email or control panel. Can you help?

Yes. If your email or StackCP login has stopped working and the person who set it up isn’t replying, fill in the form. Once you’ve signed to give permission, we can look after your email and control panel and help you get back in. If your usual email address isn’t working, give us one that is, so we can reply to you.

I created a StackCP login, but my account is empty. Why?

That’s normal. A new StackCP login starts as a fresh, empty account. It isn’t linked to the account where your website, email and domain already are, which is looked after by whoever set them up. Fill in the form, and once you’ve given permission we can look after your existing website, email and domain, so you don’t have to start again.

Will my website or email go offline?

We don’t switch anything off. Your website and email stay live while we sort things out, and usually no DNS changes are needed, so your visitors shouldn’t notice any difference.

What is StackDNS?

StackDNS is the name of the nameservers (ns1.stackdns.com to ns4.stackdns.com) that many web designers and hosting companies use for their customers’ websites, email and domains. StackCP is the control panel and StackMail is the email service that often come with it. If your domain uses them, we can usually help.
