Move from Shopify to WordPress and WooCommerce
Take your products, customers and order history with you to a WordPress and WooCommerce shop you control.
Why people move from Shopify
- Your shop runs on Shopify’s platform. Your theme, checkout and store data all live on Shopify’s systems.
- Extra features usually mean extra apps. Many apps come with their own monthly fees, which add up as your shop grows.
- Your addresses follow Shopify’s pattern. Product and collection pages always sit under fixed paths such as /products/ and /collections/.
- You want your shop and your content in one place. WordPress and WooCommerce run your pages, blog and shop together, and WooCommerce is open source.
What you get with WordPress on Stack Hosting

- Premium support with access to professional WordPress developers.
What moves and what gets rebuilt
- Products move: Shopify exports products as a CSV file, which WooCommerce’s product importer can read. For larger stores, migration plugins bring across products with their variants and images directly from Shopify.
- Customers move: Shopify exports customer lists to CSV, and they’re imported into WooCommerce with an import plugin. Passwords aren’t included, so customers set a new one when they next sign in.
- Orders move: Shopify exports orders to CSV, and your order history is imported into WooCommerce with a plugin.
- Links keep working: we set up 301 redirects from your Shopify product and collection addresses to the new WooCommerce URLs.
- Design is rebuilt: your Shopify theme is recreated as a WordPress theme, matching your current look or giving it a refresh.
- Apps, payments and shipping are set up again: Shopify apps are replaced with WooCommerce extensions or WordPress plugins, and payment and shipping options are configured in WooCommerce.
How the move works
- You tell us about your store: roughly how many products, the apps you use, and how you take payments and ship orders.
- We set up WordPress and WooCommerce on Stack Hosting, import your products, customers and orders, and test everything on a staging copy, including checkout.
- We set up 301 redirects from your old page addresses to the new ones, so existing links, bookmarks and search results still lead to the right page.
- When you’re happy, we switch your DNS to Stack Hosting at a planned time, so downtime is kept to a minimum.
- We help confirm the live site, SSL and email are working.
DNS timing: After nameservers change, allow a few hours (sometimes up to 24) for the internet to catch up. Your current site stays live until the switch, and we’ll plan the cutover so downtime is kept to a minimum.
Shopify to WooCommerce questions
Can I move my products from Shopify to WooCommerce?
Yes. Shopify can export your products as a CSV file, which WooCommerce’s built-in product importer can read. For larger stores, migration plugins connect to Shopify directly and bring across products with their variants and images.
What about my customers and order history?
Shopify exports customers and orders to CSV files, and WooCommerce’s own migration guide uses import plugins to bring both across, so past orders are there when you switch.
Will my customers need new passwords?
Yes. Shopify’s customer export doesn’t include passwords, so customer accounts come across without them. Customers set a new password the first time they sign in to the new shop.
Will my old product links still work?
Yes. Shopify uses fixed paths such as /products/ and /collections/. We set up 301 redirects from those addresses to the matching WooCommerce pages, so links, bookmarks and search results still work.
Does my Shopify store stay open during the move?
Yes. Your Shopify store keeps trading while we build and test the WooCommerce shop. We switch DNS at a planned time, and agree with you how to handle any orders placed during the switch.
